Trey Smith | CEO

Trey Smith has provided waste services in the environmental industry for more than 20 years and counting. Trey’s core competency is his understanding of the markets and ability to deliver strategic, sustainable solutions to customers across the spectrum that are dealing with all facets of waste issues.

 

Trey has extensive experience in hazardous and non-hazardous waste management and logistics, reuse, recycling and waste-to-energy, waste treatment, remediation and industrial services, abatement and demolition, exploration and production waste, and emergency and disaster response. His record of providing sustainable, cost-effective solutions includes many successful projects that required meeting challenges ranging from marine transfer to brownfields to waste-by-rail to wetland restoration.

 

Prior to starting Green Rock in 2016, Trey worked with Green Group Holdings and covered projects across the United States in all aspects of waste management to include coal ash transportation and disposal for the utilities in the Southeast to oilfield waste in the Powder River Basin, Texas and the Marcelles, to long-haul projects for municipal solid waste and contaminated soils out of the Northeast. Trey continues to consult on behalf of Green Group Holdings.

 

From 1996 to 2012, Trey worked with Republic Services and was instrumental in the development of Republic Services’ special waste program, where he held the position of Director of Special Waste for the Eastern U.S. and had responsibilities in 20 landfill markets from Pennsylvania to Florida.

 

Trey earned a BS from The Citadel and a Masters in Environmental Studies from the University of Charleston and The Medical University of South Carolina.

Raymond Lightfoot | President

Raymond serves as the Director of Business Development with Green Rock and has been with the company since 2017.

 

His experience includes project management, brownfield redevelopments, waste disposal & logistics, budget management, abatement and demolition, and emergency/disaster response. 

 

Notable experiences include the management of all hazardous and nonhazardous waste from recent power plant abatement & demolition projects (TVA, Duke Energy, GA Power, LGE/KU, Consumers Energy, IPL), truck management of coal combustion residuals (CCR), EPA Superfund remediation projects, and transporting waste by rail. 

 

Raymond is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and currently resides on Johns Island, South Carolina with his wife and two children. He is also an NCAA Men’s college basketball official. 

Bob Shepard | Vice President

Bob Shepard is a 40-year veteran of the environmental industry with significant expertise in all aspects of solid waste management, including collection, disposal, and recycling.

 

Bob served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Fennell Container Co. Inc. and its affiliate companies from 1979 until its sale in 1995 to Republic Services Inc. Bob became Area President of the Carolinas and then was promoted to Regional Vice President of the Southern Region including the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida.

After retiring from Republic in 2010, Bob is currently invested in numerous environmental service companies and leverages his experience to help grow these businesses in the waste and recycling service industries.

 

A Charleston native, Bob has served on numerous Boards and Foundations including the National Solid Waste Management Association. Bob is a graduate of Clemson University and a past Chairman of the Clemson University Board of Visitors. 

Heather McKay | Controller

Mom of two beautiful girls and proud to call Mount Pleasant, SC home for nine years and counting, Heather keeps the Green Rock team in check as our Controller.

 

As a former Accounting Coordinator, Director of Administration and Office Manager, Heather brings over a decade of experience to the Green Rock team and its clients in accounting, insurance, customer service, sales oversight, invoicing and vendor management.

 

With a BS in Accounting from Grand Canyon University, Heather helps the Green Rock team mind its Ps and Qs in client support, detailed project reporting, corporate documentation, proposals, business development and more.​

Kayla Clark - Green Rock Assistant Controller

Kayla Clark | Assistant Controller

As the Assistant Controller at Green Rock, Kayla oversees the financials and accounting teams, ensuring that we provide complete, accurate, and timely information. 

​

Growing up just south of Lexington, KY, Kayla initially pursued Electrical Engineering before making the switch to the accounting field. Today, she brings a decade of experience to us here at Green Rock.

​

Kayla takes pride in her deep understanding of accounting in the Environmental and Sustainability industries, as well as her expertise in project and job costing. She is driven to make Green Rock to be the best in the industry, and, as a result, consistently strives for quick, correct, and clear invoicing and documentation for every client. 

​

Our goal is to be the most efficient and effective sustainability service in the industry, and she is passionate about helping us achieve that.
 

Outside of the office, Kayla lives in Mount Pleasant with her loyal pup, Oliver. On the weekends, you can find her enjoying the outdoors with fishing, shark tooth hunting, beaching, snorkeling, boating, and yoga.

Pete Bleignier | Senior Business Manager - Charleston, SC

In his role as Senior Business Manager for Green Rock, Pete Bleignier identifies sustainability objectives and priorities before applying adaptable approaches to waste management and ensuring deliverables for our clients across the country. 

 

Both robust and dynamic, Pete brings a background in program management specializing in waste reductions and diversion, zero landfill initiatives, beneficial reuse and customer service to Green Rock customers. 

 

Before joining Green Rock, he worked with Univar Solutions and Haas Group International as well as serving in the United State Air Force. 

 

Over the course of his career, Pete managed full-spectrum waste management programs for several Fortune 500 industrial sites, identified and converted more than 6K tons of manufacturing by-product from disposal into beneficial reuse programs along with developing, transitioning and managing multiple major industrial locations spanning a traditional landfill program to zero waste. 

Chat Runnion - Green Rock

Chad Runnion | Senior Business Manager  - Nashville, TN

As Senior Business Manager, Chad brings 27 years of dynamic and resourceful environmental and waste management expertise to Green Rock.  He began his career, “boots on the ground”, learning and doing from the ground up, getting his hands dirty, sampling, classifying, packaging waste as a chemist with Laidlaw Environmental.

 

He moved quickly to customer service because of his exceptional ability to earn the client’s respect and loyalty with his quick responses and attention to detail.  Of his 27 years, 18 years were devoted to Clean Harbors where he continued to wow clients with his dynamic, practical, and problem-solving approach, moving from Account Manager, Corporate Account Manager, to Director of Waste Projects.  During this time, he was the winner of the well-deserved Rookie Salesman of the Year, the Top Line of Business Sales Award and the Chairman’s Award. At Clean Harbors, Chad proved to be an exceptional force and an advocate for his customers.

 

He took his customer focused talents to Badger Daylighting where he accepted the role of Area Manager with enthusiasm.   As a hands-on leader who not only managed the field crew and the P&L, but he also became part of the crew and worked alongside them earning their respect and admiration.

 

Chad has broad experience with nonhazardous, hazardous, PCB-contaminated waste, PFAS/PFOA contaminated waste, universal waste, lab packs, remediation, logistics, brownfield, decommissioning and demolition, recycling, cradle to grave waste management, and waste treatment.  Chads RCRA training and hands on experience were invaluable for completing multimillion dollar waste projects and environmental cleanups across the United States.

 

Chad’s goal is to identify creative, sustainable, cost-efficient waste solutions for clients who demand consistent communication, as well as quality and customer centric service.

 

Chad is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College where he earned a BS in Biology.  Outside of the office, he enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, with his wife and two boys.

Brandt Frenchman - Green Rock Senior Business Manager

Brandt Frenchman | Senior Business Manager 

Brandt Frenchman brings 30 years of experience in environmental project management to his role as Senior Business Manager at Green Rock. He specializes in crafting and executing strategies for sustainable environmental solutions, addressing complex challenges with innovative and effective approaches.

 

His extensive background in the field allows him to contribute valuable insights and leadership to Green Rock, enhancing the company's ability to deliver top-notch environmental management solutions.

 

Brandt's career is marked by his commitment to excellence and his track record of successful projects.

 

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Brandt is a dedicated father of six. He balances his career with a passion for music, golfing, and maintaining an active lifestyle through regular exercise. His blend of professional expertise and personal dedication makes him a significant asset to Green Rock and the environmental industry.

Fred G. Hunziker | Senior Business Manager - West Region

Fred G. Hunziker has 30+ years of experience in the waste industry in which he has accumulated extensive knowledge of markets across the Western United States and partnered with many clients to provide the most effective solutions to meet complex environmental needs.

​

Known for his resourceful, hands-on approach, Fred combines strategy, insight, process efficiency and natural leadership to optimize results and ensure both beneficial and measurable outcomes for his clients.  

​

Prior to joining Green Rock, Fred led business development initiatives for Waste Solutions Group and San Francisco Bay Railroad. In this capacity, he worked with leading developers, consultants, municipalities, and contractors to resolve challenging projects in the most cost-effective manner.

​

From 1998 to 2013, he served Republic Services as the Director of Special Waste Sales in the Western US where he was responsible for numerous landfill markets in California, Oregon, Washington and Utah.  

​

A proud graduate of California State University, Fresno, Fred earned a BS in Finance on a full-ride wrestling scholarship. He currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Travis Shepard | Industrial Account Executive

Travis Shepard has spent nearly a decade in the waste industry focusing on the administrative, operational, and sales fields. His expertise involves optimizing the logistics involved in transportation and disposal of solid waste streams.

 

Following graduation from Clemson University in 2009, he went to work in operations for Republic Services. From 2010 until 2013 he learned the intricacies of collection, hauling, and disposal of the waste industry.

 

After finishing graduate school from Keller School of Business with a Masters in Information Systems Management in 2015; he went back to work for Republic Services in sales with a focus on account retention and acquisition. His duties involved maintaining relationships and managing more than 800 accounts, while also growing the Republic footprint in South Carolina. He focused on municipal solid waste (MSW), construction and demolition (C&D) debris, and industrial waste streams accounts for both commercial and industrial businesses.

 

In joining Green Rock Strategies, Travis will bring attention to Green Rock’s goals of delivering sustainable options to industries for recycling, disposal, and renewable energy.

Craig Fisk | Senior Business Manager - Atlanta, GA

With more than three decorated decades in the environmental industry, Craig Fisk joined Green Rock in 2020 as a Senior Business Manager bringing his aptitude for business relationships, meaningful connections and client advocacy. 

​

Kicking off his environmental career in 1987 as a sales representative for Safety-Kleen, Craig rose the business development ranks with charges that included managing both verticals and territories for assignments across Knoxville, TN and Atlanta, GA. In 2010 he joined Winter Environmental as a Business Development Manager for the Remediation Group before moving to Clean Harbors as a Senior Account Manager in 2016. 

​

During his tenure with Clean Harbors, Craig was responsible for $1.5M in new business each year - consistently exceeding benchmarks for the year prior by 200 - 300%. 

​

For each prospect and client, Craig works to earn trust and ensure a comprehensive understanding of Green Rock’s capability to deliver invaluable service and expertise.  

Robert Stover - Green Rock

Robert Stover | Business Development Manager

Robert (Bob) has 30 years in environmental emergency response services, project management, company management and business development experience. 

 

From Incident Command on several of the nation’s largest environmental and natural disasters to rail and water responses to contaminated commercial property redevelopment to participating in several company mergers and acquisitions, he has experienced a wide spectrum of environmental challenges and helped define real time solutions. 

 

At Green Rock, Bob assists in creating social media exposure and branding at a national level. He also works to develop opportunities to introduce Green Rock to new clients and teaming partnerships to best use the available synergies between companies. 

 

When not working, he and his wife of 45 years, Peggy, travel and enjoy the grandkids on the great beaches and amusement parks of the US.  

Ken Krajewski, a Senior Project Manager for Green Rock

Ken Krajewski | Senior Project Manager

Ken Krajewski, a Senior Project Manager for Green Rock, brings over 30 years of extensive experience in project management, people management, operations, and client satisfaction. Ken's career began in manufacturing, and he soon traveled the country as part of a product installation team. He later transitioned to developing, deploying, and maintaining data centers, directing a Medicaid claims processing systems team, and leading a team of engineers supporting client endpoints.

 

Throughout his career, Ken has successfully led and directed various outsourcing client projects, consistently meeting client expectations and satisfaction goals. After a brief four-year retirement, Ken joined Green Rock, drawn by the company's dynamic environment and commitment to excellence.

 

Ken's three decades of experience have honed his project management and communication skills, giving him a deep understanding of what drives client satisfaction. His meticulous attention to detail ensures that no aspect of a project is overlooked, and his ability to comprehend financial drivers aligns with the business needs of every project he undertakes.

 

Ken's goal for every Green Rock client is to achieve success in the physical aspects of their project requirements, whether a one-time event or an ongoing process, while meeting and exceeding safety standards and financial goals. His expertise and dedication make him a valuable asset to the Green Rock team.

James Jennings | Senior Business Manager

In his role as Senior Business Manager, James identifies creative, sustainable and cost-efficient waste solutions for Green Rock’s clients. His focus is to foresee potential challenges and address each accordingly in order to alleviate stress, enhance productivity and ensure streamlined service delivered on time and on budget.

 

With a deep passion for both construction and conservation, James brings enthusiasm and excitement to each project. Relationship driven, he is motivated to consistently improve productivity and contractor performance, while ensuring steady communication and collaboration with each client. 

 

Hailing from Charleston, SC, James graduated from the Citadel with a BS in Construction Engineering and joined a heavy civil construction company as an Assistant Project Manager before making his way to Green Rock in 2021. 

 

When he isn’t broadening his understanding of the environmental waste management and construction industry, you will likely find James somewhere outside hunting, fishing, running, mountain biking, hiking, surfing and kayaking. 

Tyler Edwards - Green Rock

Tyler Edwards | Project Manager

As a Project Manager at Green Rock, Tyler Edwards brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the environmental, industrial, and construction industries. 

 

A Charleston native and Clemson University graduate, Tyler began his career at the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) before transitioning to government contracting for the Department of Defense. He later returned to the environmental field with GEL Engineering, focusing on permitting and compliance testing. During the COVID shutdown, Tyler also gained valuable experience in logistics and general contracting.

 

Tyler’s goal for every Green Rock client is to ensure project success by providing comprehensive support in all aspects of operations, from the bidding process to project closeout. He aims to bring in new business opportunities, maintain strong relationships with vendors and clients, and consistently demonstrate efficiency and reliability. Tyler’s dedication to client satisfaction and his proactive approach make him an asset to the Green Rock team and its clients.

 

Outside of work, Tyler enjoys fishing, surfing, and Clemson sports, and is an active member of JIBC. His outgoing nature and extensive knowledge of the Charleston area, combined with hands-on experience in various roles from manual labor to crew management and lab testing, make him a versatile and effective project manager.

George Kasunic, Sales Development Representative for Green Rock

George Kasunic | Project Manager

George Kasunic, Sales Development Representative for Green Rock, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his role. Raised in Cleveland, Ohio, George pursued a Sales Management degree from the University of Akron. 

 

His entrepreneurial spirit emerged early when he started a landscaping company at the age of ten, which he successfully operated through college. During his college years, he also managed a valet company and worked as a caddie at Firestone in Akron.

 

George relocated to Charleston after his wife secured a position at Kiawah Island Resort, completing his final year of studies online due to the pandemic. He continued caddying at the Kiawah Island Club during this time. Following his graduation, George joined Jear Logistics, where he managed a diverse client portfolio across the US and Canada for 2.5 years, specializing in logistics for produce, flooring, RV parts, food materials, and tires. He also led a support team, ensuring exceptional service and efficiency.

 

George is dedicated to delivering cost-efficient, timely solutions for Green Rock clients without compromising on service. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his ten-month-old son, Blake, and his wife, exploring new restaurants, traveling, playing golf, running, fishing, and visiting the beach. 

 

George's commitment to family and his diverse professional background make him a valuable asset to the Green Rock team.

Debra Mongiardo, Senior Project Coordinator for Green Rock

Debra Mongiardo | Senior Project Coordinator

Debra Mongiardo serves as the Senior Project Coordinator for Green Rock, bringing a dynamic and versatile background to the team. A graduate of the University of Florida with a major in Finance/Business, Debra is an avid Florida Gator fan. She is married and has one son, a recent graduate of rival Florida State University.

 

With 28 years of experience in banking and finance, Debra managed a Regions Bank following the 2008 economic crash. Seeking new challenges, she co-founded the CSI Academy of Florida, a hands-on forensic training academy. When the COVID-19 pandemic halted in-person training, Debra transitioned to the environmental business, finding a new home at Green Rock. Additionally, she is a licensed realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services.

 

Debra is known for her quick learning, outgoing personality, and ability to think outside the box. She thrives on challenges and loves staying busy. Her goal for every Green Rock client is to provide the best possible service and competitive pricing, always adhering to the Golden Rule: "Treat others as you would like to be treated." Debra's dedication and multifaceted expertise make her an invaluable asset to the Green Rock team.

Morgan Elliott - Green Rock

Morgan Elliott | Senior AR/AP Specialist

As a Senior AR/AP Specialist, Morgan brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role at Green Rock. After graduating from Valdosta State University with a BA in Political Science, specializing in Public Administration, she relocated to Charleston five years ago. 

​

Prior to joining Green Rock, Morgan served as a Project Manager for a Charleston-based installation company, where she honed skills in meticulous project management and financial tracking.

​

Her natural inclination towards precision and organization has been instrumental in managing client invoices and overseeing job tracking. She is committed to ensuring that every client feels valued and receives exceptional service. By going above and beyond, Morgan strives to create the best possible experience for each client.

​

Outside of the office, Morgan is involved in her church's student ministry, where she serves as a small group leader for high school girls. Additionally, she plays a role in leading my church's young adult ministry, assisting with tasks ranging from connecting individuals to small groups to delivering important announcements.

Emily Weismann - Green Rock

Emily Weismann | Senior Accounts Payable Specialist

Emily Weismann, a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist at Green Rock, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role. Born and raised in Great Falls, Virginia, Emily graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor's Degree in Management and a Minor in Business Administration.

Emily began her career with DynCorp, where she honed her data analysis skills during a merger with Computer Sciences Corporation. She then transitioned to Freddie Mac, excelling in administrative support and later supporting the National Sales Department, handling logistics and communications for top executives.

Emily's diverse background includes inside sales roles with DLT Solutions, where she consistently exceeded quotas, and an eight-year tenure as an Accounts Payable Administrator at Nucor Steel, managing vendor payments and database systems with precision.

At Green Rock, Emily ensures timely bill payments, manages vendor setups, and supports her team with unwavering professionalism. She prides herself on seamless processes and swift follow-ups, contributing to Green Rock's positive team environment and growth. Emily is committed to excellence and always ready to assist her colleagues in achieving company goals.

About Green Rock - Amanda

Amanda Spivey | Accounts Receivable Coordinator

Born and raised on James Island, Amanda spent the first part of her career as an athlete playing competitive college volleyball before serving as the Athletic Director for a local traveling volleyball club. 

 

Prior to coming on board with Green Rock, she also worked with Charleston Water System as the Administrative Supervisor for their treatment plant. 

 

Amanda is a maven when it comes to triaging and prioritizing. She is the ultimate team player for Green Rock and its clients ensuring they constantly enjoy quality work. For each client, Amanda aims to give a professional and comfortable experience that builds trust while getting the job done. 

 

When she isn’t busy keeping our day to day humming smoothly, you may find her exploring the mountains or sitting poolside with her husband, daughter and their 8 pets. 

Jed Weiss - Green Rock Accounts Receivable Coordinator

Jed Weiss | Accounts Receivable Coordinator

Jed serves as an Accounts Receivable Coordinator for Green Rock, where he provides

administrative support for our customers in tandem with our sales team and project managers.

 

Prior to joining Green Rock, Jed worked as an Account Executive for Cowan Logistics, LLC

where he learned how to understand, structure, and build jobs to streamline backend processes, and administer top shelf service for customers. 

 

Before his entry into logistics and waste management, Jed spent time in NYC working in financial services, where he provided key performance data and analysis to the executive management of fortune 500 companies regarding their position along competitive industry landscapes.

 

Jed is a graduate of Clemson University, where he earned his B.S. in Financial Management along with a minor in Accounting. He brings aboard his broad background to make sure that every client is given the utmost industry standard care.

 

While not in the office, Jed likes to spend his time reading, camping, hiking, fishing, and going to the beach with friends and family.

Lindsey Jennings | Accounts Receivable Coordinator

As the Accounts Receivable Coordinator at Green Rock, Lindsey brings 20+ years of experience in the construction industry, specifically residential construction to our firm. With extensive knowledge in accounts receivable and accounts payable, she is well-equipped to handle the financial aspects of both our company and its clients.

​

Before joining Green Rock, Lindsey dedicated 20 years to Quality Electric of the Coastal Carolinas Inc., where she provided scheduling, estimating, invoicing, and permitting services to some of America's largest home builders. This experience honed her skills and expertise in both accounting and customer service.

​

At Green Rock, Lindsey is  known for a willingness to roll up her sleeves and get the job done efficiently and effectively. Additionally, she is a dedicated team player, always striving to work collaboratively to achieve our shared goals.

​

Her motivation for every Green Rock client is to provide the best service possible - approaching every interaction with a positive outlook, aiming to foster a stress-free and long-lasting relationship.

Born and raised in Charleston, Lindsey currently resides in Moncks Corner with her husband and teenage daughter. In her free time, she enjoys a variety of activities such as cooking, baking, shopping, fishing, white-water rafting, and camping with loved ones.

Christine Kozlowski - Green Rock Office Manager

Christine Kozlowski | Office Manager

As the Office Manager at Green Rock, Christine’s role is to provide exceptional customer service and be a team player to both her co-workers and our clients. 

​

Raised in Goose Creek, SC, she has been a part of the community since she was two years old. Before joining Green Rock, she obtained an Associates Degree in Advanced Office Technology and an Advanced Certificate in Baking from Trident Technical College. 

​

Christine started her career at Alcoa Mt. Holly, where she gained valuable experience in training development, new hire orientation, and designing web-based training. After that, she spent 14 years at Charleston Water System, working her way up from an Administrative Assistant to Maintenance Planning Technician. 

​

With a keen attention to detail and client-first mindset, Christine ensures that all work is accurate and thorough. As a diligent researcher, she is always willing to go the extra mile to find answers and provide helpful resources.

​

Her motivation for every client is to provide them with the knowledge they need and a superior customer experience. Truly inspired by Green Rock’s mission and vision she is dedicated to upholding our company's values in all that she does.

​

Christine has been happily married for eight years and is the proud mother of six children, four girls and two boys. When she isn’t keeping the Green Rock house in order, she enjoys baking, taking her youngest kids to the park, and planning trips to different theme parks for the entire family.
